    Robotino 3 battery discharging

    Hi,
we have two Robotino type 3 robots,
and after a while (approx 4-5 Months) of usage and charging, one of the two lead batteries is always discharged down to 6 to 7 Volts
    and we are replacing it.

Since we have encountered this problem several times , on both Robotinos what could be the problem?

As information, we are supplying our SICK300 Scanner with 24V via the IO connector.

    Any idea ?

    regards

The problem ist that the two lead batteries are in series to reach 2x12=24V. When charging the batteries are not balanced. This means one battery can be overloaded wjile the other one is not fully loaded.

    I would recommend

    1) Use two identical batteries (brand, type, age)
    2) From time to time disconnect the batteries from Robotino and load them seperately with a 12V lead acid charger. Have a look ate the specification of your batteries and compare this with the charger you are using.
