    Damaged COM Board

    Hello,
Our Robotino 3 seems to have a dead COM board (SOM-5788).
I assume that this board is difficult to find after so many years. Is it possible to replace it with a new board? Which board does the Robotino 4 use? does it have pin compatibility in the two connectors under the board?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Federico,
Robotino3's COM express modules are typ2. Robotino4 uses typ6 COM express modules. The connectors are not compatible.

      Thank you.
So, Robotino 3 needs exactly the same board numbers (SOM-5788 for Premium Edition, SOM-6763 B1 for Basic Edition) or would it work with other typ2 boards?
Can spare boards be bought from Festo?

Any typ2 board should do. Even from another vendor. But I did not test this.

          Hello Again,
I have a further question about this.
We got a supplier in Ireland that can sell us a SOM-5788 ( new, but extensively checked according to them, since it has been "stting in the shelf for a while") for €1600.
I also found a "new version" of a Type2 board different model) as low as €300, and Type 6 boards at around 400~500. I understand that a type 6 board would need a different support board (which I also understand that are custom made by Festo).
Is it possible to buy the Support board for the Robotino 4 and install it with a Type 6 board in a Robotino 3? Does Festo sell the Base board for Robotino 4 (and eventually the type 6 COM board, but I expect that one to be more easy/cheap to buy than the SOM-5788)?
          Thanks again

1600Eur for the SOM-5788 is ridiculous expensive. And you are not sure that the COM express is damaged as long as you did not check it with a known to work COM express module. Your case is already handled by Festo support. Festo will contact you with a solution for your problem.
