Thank you for clearing that up for me!

Would this laser essentially be plug and play?
EDIT: I see that I would also need the USB HUB. But in terms of software I suppose it is simple enough to install.Last edited by Jfisher98; 02-17-2020, 02:28 PM.Comment

On the website for the part it says this:
"Small laser rangefinder for 840€ excluding VAT. The rangefinder is suited for all robotics applications like mapping, self-localisation and object avoidance. The maximum range is 5.6 meters which is more than enough for indoor use. The scanner is connected by USB2.0. Please note that the scanner gets enough current (>1A) from the USB port. Use theself powerd industrial USB hubto ensure that the scanner gets enough power."
But I suppose you don't use one, so I won't need one.Comment

Hello Again,
I am wondering if it is possible to have an OPC client on the Robot that can access a Siemens PLC. If not, I notice the OPC server that I can add on View4. How do these interfaces work on the robot, I have only found one dated document that was also in German.
Thanks again,

Dear all,
We have bought the CP factory system recently, including Robotino with the IP address of 172.21.15.90, running 3.1.5-Smart soft 2.3.3.
robotino-daemons package was already installed. We are working on a project that builds an application to interact with Robotino.
Last time, we can control Robotino movement by using wireless joystick or via its web interface.
There are some issues that need your help as follows:
1/ We cannot get data from REST API service, the response is 404 not found. We already try with python, MATLAB programming or Postman software tool but unsuccessfully.
- Do I need to enable something to use REST API? How can I know whether REST API service is running?
2/ We already updated the system package in Robotino with the command of apt get update/upgrade.
But now we cannot move the Robotino with joystick or using web interface. It might be some services not start automaticly.
- Which service handles the movement request of Robotino? How can I check that service running or not?
I'd like to appreciate any help on these issues.
Thank you very much!

Hello verbeek,
Thank you for your response.
I've fixed the REST API problem by updating the robotino-daemons to newest version 2.0.21. I installed the new image from wiki (robotino4-4.0.10-smartsoft-2.5.1.fsa)
Now, the REST API service on Robotino is working, so that I can get the data from Robotino via REST API.
However, there are still some problems as follows:
1/ the new web interface looks not good as before. In the control page, there is no button to move the robotino.
2/ I've still got the problem of Robotino movement. Last time, I can move the robotino by using joystick, web interface or Robotino View.
But now, I can not move the Robotino in any way. I don't know that is the hardware problem or software problem with Robotino.
Could you please show me how to check what is the problem with Robotino? Or is there any way to move the Robotino?
Please know that we have two Robotino in the Lab. Only one Robotino got the problem, the other works fine.
Thank you very much for your help.Comment
